Electronic Music/Musik Electronic adalah 'istilah selimut' (Sebuah kata atau frasa yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan beberapa kelompok hal terkait) yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan musik yang umumnya dibuat menggunakan instrumen elektronik (seperti mesin drum atau synthesizer ) atau menggunakan peralatan elektronik untuk membuat musik (pemotongan atau perpindahan nada) dan biasanya tidak terdengar organik.
Genre Musik adalah pengelompokan musik sesuai dengan kemiripannya satu sama lain. Musik juga dapat dikelompokan sesuai dengan kriteria lain, misalnya geografi. Sebuah genre dapat didefinisikan oleh teknik musik, gaya, konteks, dan tema musik. Didalam sebuah genre terdapat juga jenis turunannya yang dibagi dalam beberapa kelompok dan disebut juga sebagai Subgenre
Kadang-kadang disalahartikan sebagai "Electronica" atau " Techno " Meskipun Techno adalah subgenre musik elektronik, istilah ini sulit untuk mengklasifikasikan keseluruhan subgenre. Electronica di sisi lain adalah istilah untuk musik elektronik yang mulai populer digunakan sekitar akhir 1990-an, tetapi dianggap oleh beberapa media sebagai kata-kata yang tidak berarti apa-apa. Begitu pula dengan Electronic Dance Music atau disingkat EDM. Meskipun EDM adalah salah satu subgenre musik elektronik, ada banyak subgenre lainnya juga.
